Now that my children are grown and I no longer have to lie in bed pretending to still be sleeping so that the kids can deliver me breakfast in bed, I start my morning early, out in the pasture with the sheep. Some of the ewes come to greet me and a few of the lambs follow me until their mother’s call them back to their sides. I love to end up on the hill so that I can sit and watch the flock. The lambs are grazing along side their moms but seem more interesting in playing as their bellies are full of milk. One ewe who is heavy with lambs and will probably give birth in a day or two lays down to graze. I wander closer to sit next to her. What a quiet, peaceful way to start my day – out amongst the sheep.
